Waterloo-based ETAS Canada Plans Team Growth in 2023

The holistic automotive cybersecurity solutions previously branded as ESCRYPT will now be offered under the brand of ETAS.

As part of this integration, the Waterloo, Canada, facility will be branded ETAS and is proudly sporting the new logo. This branding change is accompanied by an expansion of the site’s offerings to include ETAS portfolio elements beyond cybersecurity. To support this broader mandate, ETAS Canada will be hiring additional associates throughout the year and beyond.

“The automotive industry is advancing at a rapid pace, creating challenging discontinuities and exciting opportunities, notably for automotive suppliers equipped for the emerging software-defined vehicle paradigm,” said Ken Schultz, General Manager of ETAS Canada. “We’re excited to have our cybersecurity solutions within the ETAS brand, and beyond that, to grow our presence in Waterloo to provide the automotive supply chain, our customers, with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions for software-defined vehicles.”

“Our Waterloo location is of strategic importance in our mission to create first-rate solutions for our customers,” explains ETAS CEO Thomas Irawan. “The Waterloo region is a vibrant technology ecosystem that offers world-class talent and expertise essential for ETAS to continue to grow in the automotive software space.”

In 2012, ESCRYPT GmbH, a spin-off of the Ruhr University Bochum founded in 2004, was acquired by ETAS GmbH. Since then, ESCRYPT has become the market leader in automotive cybersecurity with customers all over the world. Until the end of 2021, ESCRYPT GmbH was managed as an independent subsidiary of ETAS before being integrated into ETAS GmbH at the beginning of 2022.
